Manager, Fundraising and Development, BC & Yukon

Position Purpose:

The Manager will work as part of the BC & Yukon team to build and deepen relationships and raise funds to achieve JDRF’s mission accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. Based on the annual Regional plan and budget, s/he will coordinate, plan, implement, and evaluate JDRF fundraising and community engagement projects and volunteer activities. The Manager will be a confident, persistent, enthusiastic, goal-driven individual with experience managing leadership volunteer and fundraising programs. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop & maintain new relationships to secure/coordinate sponsorships, cash donations & gifts in-kind that serve to enhance JDRF revenue goals
  • Recruit, manage, steward and motivate leadership volunteers who provide support to JDRF fundraising initiatives
  • Works closely with National and Regional teams ensuring account management processes and strategies are in place for all accounts
  • Track all constituent relationship activity in JDRF CRM
  • Plans, implements and manages all fundraising programs/events, communications and marketing activities with volunteers in the area.  Primary event responsibilities include: TELUS/JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, annual Gala and Third Party fundraising program
  • In partnership with regional and national staff and volunteers, coordinate the Community Engagement program in the Okanagan to connect with families and individuals diagnosed with T1D and to promote  JDRF programs
  • Work closely with the regional donor relations team to support the major gifts program including identifying prospects and assist in the development of cultivation plans
  • Prepare and implement strategic plans for core programs, remaining accountable for annual revenue and expense budgets
  • Flag when challenges exist to meet fundraising results and make recommendations to mitigate challenges
  • Recruit, develop and provide stewardship for leadership volunteers within corporations and families
  • Analyzes trends and provides recommendations for development and strategies for future growth
  • Monitors, re-evaluates and adjusts the delivery of plans as necessary, including implementing existing best practices and developing new ones
  • Prepares and submits on-going update reports to regional manager and participates or leads committees/teams as required
  • With direction from the regional and national office, implements JDRF policies, procedures and programs within the Okanagan
  • Support all necessary administrative procedures
  • Operates within the philosophy, culture and core values of the organization
  • All other duties as assigned

Responsibility:

  • Revenue responsibility of up to $500,000 on TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes, gala and other local events
  • Ensure all activities fall within expense budget
  • Ensure donors and volunteers have positive interactions with JDRF, deepening relationships with JDRF over time

Qualifications:

  • College/university degree in Fundraising Management or related discipline
  • 3 years previous related experience
  • Experience managing and motivating staff and volunteers
  • Experience managing programs in fundraising or sales
  • Experience in a non-profit environment

Must demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to have a home based office
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment (volunteer committees and regional staff)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in order to successfully interact with external stakeholders and staff within the organization
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of CRM would be an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, problem solving and planning skills are required
  • Self-starter, capable of identifying the need for and taking independent action
  • Ability to develop cooperative working relationships
