Penticton & District Hospice Society (PDHS) is looking for an Executive Director to join their team. PDHS is an established non-profit society striving to alleviate suffering and to improve the quality of living for persons for whom curative treatment is no longer desired or appropriate. PDHS exists to be stewards of palliative care and bereavement programs which support individuals and families in the community.

Located in the heart of the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Penticton offers stunning views, outdoor activities such as boating, hiking and skiing and has some of the best weather in Canada. About the Role:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) position is a new role responsible for all Fundraising efforts, Programs & Services, Operations, Human Resources, Financial Planning & Budgeting and providing Leadership to the Society. In this capacity, the ED will be interacting with the Board of Directors to set the strategic direction of PDHS, develop plans to achieve goals and will create relationships with donors, health professionals and the community at large while supervising a small full-time staff and approximately 120 volunteers.

We would like you to have:

An undergraduate degree in a related field with a minimum of five years of experience in a senior or executive management position, preferably in the non-profit sector. Experience working effectively with a Board of Directors, donors, health professionals and organizations, staff, volunteers and the community is also important. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success with fundraising and managing donor relationship programs and expertise in leading and developing others.Our ideal candidate will have great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, strong marketing skills, excellent financial management and budget planning skills, be a strategic thinking visionary leader who is service oriented and proficient in Microsoft Office applications. If you have a passion for Hospice work, have knowledge of loss, grief, and end-of-life issues and have knowledge of the trends and issues in the field of hospice palliative care, this may be the job for you.
