IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Statement of Job Purpose and Responsibility:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Development Officer will inspire and steward philanthropy from individuals and organizations in the region served by the Rotary Centre for the Arts. The incumbent will be donor centric, focused on building meaningful relationships, and able to create philanthropic strategies for individuals and organizations that honour their passions and interests within the approved priorities of the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
Hours may vary based on events and deadlines.
Skills / Experience / Qualifications:
Successful completion of post-secondary degree or equivalent experience is preferred,
CFRE designation an asset,
Excellent interpersonal skills,
An understanding of Arts and Culture in BC appreciated,
Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written),
Experience researching and completing grant applications,
Experience in creating and presenting compelling proposals to donors,
Ability to attain financial and program goals within prescribed timelines,
Experience working with volunteers/volunteer committees in a wide range of capacities,
Experience working in the not-for-profit sector and working with Boards,
Experience in special events planning and management,
Knowledge of strategic and action planning methods as they relate to fundraising,
Fearlessness in approaching prospective donors, sponsors, and building new relationships,
Excellent organizational and planning skills,
Ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands,
Proficient in the use of all corporate productivity software and office tools
Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment,
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Functions/Duties: (not in priority order or percentage of time)
Fundraising and Donor Activity:
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects to meet gift objectives.
Develop effective relationships with potential corporate donors and sponsors.
Ensure donors are provided with appropriate recognition and stewardship in a timely way.
Partner with Marketing and Communications staff to develop proposals and reports.
Oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising/appreciation events.
Manage and promote theatre seat sales.
Liaise with Board Fundraising Committee members.
Develop, manage, and implement the RCA membership campaign.
Assist with the research and completion of grant applications.
Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information.
Input activity, track, and report on progress toward achieving gift objectives.
Develop a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization.
Conduct role with integrity and respect.
Work as a team player promoting a positive and professional work environment.
Act as an ambassador in the community and positively represent the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
Abide by the policies and procedures of the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
Operate within culture and core values of the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
Other duties will be assigned in order to meet overall goals and objectives.
